Sustainability & Ecology

At Aensō, we have been transparent from the start: our goal has always been to create, design, and manufacture products that excel not only in performance but also in environmental responsibility. From day one, we set out to do things differently. We refused to settle for superficial gestures like adding a recycling logo to our labels to appear eco-friendly. Instead, we committed to using responsibly sourced materials and proper formulations from the very beginning.

The problem with traditional car cleaning products

Conventional car cleaning products often rely on chemicals such as phosphates, harsh surfactants, and solvents, which can be highly detrimental to the environment. When these chemicals are washed away, they frequently enter water systems, where they pollute rivers, lakes, and oceans, causing harm to aquatic life and disrupting delicate ecosystems. Over time, this contamination can lead to algal blooms, oxygen depletion, and long-term damage to marine biodiversity. These chemicals can also bioaccumulate and thus enter human food chains. For example microplastics have already entered human food chain.

In contrast, Aensō takes a completely different approach. As a sustainable alternative, we use biodegradable and non-toxic ingredients carefully selected for their minimal environmental impact. These ingredients break down naturally without leaving harmful residues, significantly reducing pollution. By prioritizing eco-friendly formulations, we actively contribute to the protection of our planet’s vital water sources, ensuring cleaner rivers, healthier lakes, and unpolluted oceans for generations to come. We also do not use microplastics based agents to thicken our products.

How Aensō stands out

We design our products using only ingredients with a positive ecological profile:

Detergents and Surfactants

These functional ingredients are essential for cleaning, emulsifying, degreasing, and more. At Aensō, we only use detergents and surfactants that align with our sustainability principles. Most of these are ECO-label compatible and derived from renewable sources.

Solvents and VOCs

Many conventional products release volatile organic compounds (VOCs) and contain harsh solvents, which can harm indoor air quality and human health. Aensō products prioritize safer, natural ingredients, with the majority being cosmetic-grade materials that create a healthier environment for consumers and workers.

Thickening Agents

Aensō takes pride in avoiding synthetic acrylic thickeners, which are commonly used in the market but contribute to microplastic pollution. These microplastics cannot be filtered out by sewage treatment plants, ultimately entering ecosystems and oceans. These microplastics are found in a wide variety of products – home cleaners, dishwashing liquids, shower gels, shampoos, detailing and car care products and many others. Instead, we use xanthan gum (a form of bacteriologically modified starch) - a natural, food-grade thickener found in products like ketchup and dressings. Xanthan gum is environmentally friendly and aligns with our commitment to sustainability.

pH Balance

Most of our products are pH-neutral or close to it - a deliberate choice that’s ideal for car care. High-pH products, often containing harsh ingredients like sodium hydroxide, can damage surfaces like plastics, rims, rubber, paint, and anodized aluminum by altering their chemical properties.

In chemistry, pH stands for the "potential of hydrogen." Acidic solutions donate hydrogen ions (H+), while basic (alkaline) solutions absorb them. Both reactions can degrade materials used in cars. While some situations, like removing hard water deposits with our Ring Water Spot Remover, require pH-imbalanced products, the majority of car surfaces are cleaned safely only with pH-neutral solutions - similar to how pH balanced products are safe in skin care.

Our choice of xanthan gum as a thickening agent further supports this balanced approach. It functions only within a specific pH range, making it incompatible with extreme acidity or alkalinity. By formulating our products with a neutral pH, we ensure the performance of xanthan gum while staying true to our commitment to sustainability and surface safety.

Sustainable manufacturing at Aensō

Sustainable manufacturing is at the heart of what we do. It focuses on renewable resources, minimizing waste, and reducing energy consumption, contributing to a more sustainable future. Here’s how we achieve it:

Sustainable Sourcing
We use high-quality raw materials from eco-conscious suppliers like BASF and Evonik. This ensures our ingredients are responsibly sourced, reducing their environmental impact.

Eco-Friendly Manufacturing
Our manufacturing operations are based in Central Europe, a region known for strict environmental regulations and high standards in chemical production. This minimizes waste and ensures eco-friendly practices.

Quality and Performance
Aensō products are highly concentrated, requiring less product per use, which reduces overall chemical consumption and packaging waste. Their long-lasting performance minimizes the need for frequent applications, extending product life and reducing waste.

Global Compliance
We adhere to the European Union’s strict consumer and environmental protection regulations. Additionally, we use materials from leading manufacturers that meet the highest safety and sustainability standards.

Building a sustainable future

As environmental awareness grows, consumers increasingly seek eco-friendly products. By offering sustainable car cleaning solutions, Aensō meets this demand while fostering brand loyalty based on shared values.

Moreover, as stricter environmental regulations emerge globally, our commitment to sustainability positions Aensō as a leader in corporate responsibility and eco-conscious innovation.

By manufacturing ecological car cleaning products, we reduce environmental impact, support consumer health, and align the industry with global sustainability trends.
